Wah Tea estate tour

The tour begins with an overview of the tea manufacturing process and tasting methods. Sometimes, one might spot some Wah tea pluckers, who are adept at plucking only the two leaves and a bud – the essence which lends Wah its high quality taste. Guests can also try their hand at plucking the tea!

Guests are then taken for a walk up to the factory, where they spend some time observing and learning about how tea is processed. They walk through each step of the manufacturing process in the factory, including the processes of withering, rolling, fermenting, drying and sorting.

On the way to view the plucking process, guests can the organic farm and polyhouses as well, all of which are grown for consumption at The Lodge.

The tour ends at The Tea Room, where a lovely tea tasting session awaits. With the view of tea bushes all around, guests learn about how to taste different varieties of teas, and try our exceptional bouquet.

Bird watching

Kandbari is a birders paradise, with a wide variety of birds from the Himalayan Thrush to the Indian Grey Hornbill visible everywhere in the region. So populous were the birds, that we just had to name all our rooms after the ones commonly seen here!

Woodpeckers can be heard hard at work in the early mornings, while the Yellow Billed Blue Magpie will drape itself on the branches of trees. The Whistling Thrust sings along as we read, and Barbets hop from twig to twig.

The Lodge, and in fact the entire village, is filled with birds. All you have to do is take note. So with that, we invite you to start a birding logbook at our property!

explore the area

Walks all around the property are simply stunning. This includes the Ridge walk, the Pine trail walk, or the Valley walk. Guests spend many blissful hours exploring the area and enjoying the outdoors, and it is easy to see why.

We are happy to set up tea for you in the great outdoors, so you can continue to be part of the natural surroundings. We can even set up a bonfire at our garden so you can relax and enjoy the snacks by the warmth of the fire.

For those who prefer relaxing indoors, we have a wide range of games and a vast selection of books to cozy up with!
